Fosamax

Fosamax (alendronate) is a prescription medication used to treat Osteoporosis. Fosamax is advertised in New Zealand to treat and prevent osteoporosis in post-menopausal women and men, helping to strengthen bones and reduce the risk of fractures.

Fosamax belongs to a class called bisphosphonates. It binds to bone surfaces and inhibits osteoclasts (cells that break down bone), allowing bone-forming cells to build stronger bone over time.
