Jardiance

Jardiance (empagliflozin) is a prescription medication used to treat Type 2 diabetes, heart failure, chronic kidney disease. Jardiance is an oral medication that lowers blood sugar in type 2 diabetes and also reduces the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and established heart disease.

Jardiance works by blocking SGLT2, a protein in the kidneys that reabsorbs glucose. By inhibiting SGLT2, it causes the kidneys to flush excess glucose out of the body through urine, lowering blood sugar.

Commonly reported side effects of Jardiance include Urinary tract infections, Yeast infections, Increased urination, Low blood pressure, and Rare: diabetic ketoacidosis. This is not a complete list — tell your doctor or pharmacist about any side effects you experience.
